Studio Materials – FAQ
What are “studio materials”?
Handmade glass components created for kiln-formed, fused, and experimental glass work.
These items are sold as materials for artists and makers, not finished artworks.
Is the glass compatible (COE)?
Yes. All materials are clearly labelled with their COE (Coefficient of Expansion).
Unless otherwise stated, studio materials are made using 100% COE 96 glass.
Glass with different COEs should never be mixed. As firing schedules vary between kilns, testing materials before using them in finished work is always recommended.
Will my pack look exactly like the photos?
Not exactly. All studio materials are handmade in small batches, so natural variations in thickness, length, and colour density are part of the process.
Product images are representative examples, and each pack will be similar but not identical.
How are items measured or sold?
Studio materials are usually sold by weight or by quantity, depending on the product listing.
Any sizes, thicknesses, or lengths provided are approximate guidance only.
How are items packaged?
Orders are packed carefully to protect fragile glass materials during transit.
Packaging may include protective sleeves, storage boxes, and internal padding to reduce movement while aiming to keep packaging minimal and responsible.
When will my order be dispatched?
Orders are normally dispatched within 1–3 working days after payment.
If there are any unexpected delays, you will be informed as soon as possible.
Where do you ship?
Orders are currently shipped within the United Kingdom.
If you are located outside the UK, please get in touch before ordering to discuss possible options.
What if something breaks in transit?
Glass is fragile, and although every effort is made to pack orders securely, breakage can occasionally occur.
If your order arrives damaged, please contact me within 48 hours of delivery and include clear photos of the damage and packaging so we can work together to find a fair solution.
Can I cancel or return my order?
Orders may be cancelled before dispatch.
Due to the nature of handmade glass materials, items cannot be returned once opened or used. Returns are accepted only for faulty or incorrect items.
Do firing results vary?
Yes. Firing results depend on your kiln, firing schedule, and project setup.
For best results, testing materials in your own kiln before using them in finished work is always recommended.
Where can I read the full studio policies?
