Freeze & Fuse Glass – Care & Information

Fabio di Vetro – Artisan Glasssmith

All Freeze & Fuse pieces are handmade in my London studio using COE 96 compatible glass frit and kiln-fired at high temperatures to permanently fuse the glass particles together.

Each piece is individually made, which means slight variations in colour, texture and bubble formation may occur. These characteristics are part of the handmade process and make every piece unique.

What is Freeze & Fuse?

Freeze & Fuse is a fused glass technique where glass frit (small crushed glass particles) is arranged into designs and kiln-fired until the particles fuse together.

Because of the natural behaviour of glass during firing, pieces may show:

• subtle surface texture
• small air bubbles
• natural colour reactions

These are normal characteristics of kiln-formed glass and not defects.

Glass Compatibility

All Freeze & Fuse pieces are made with COE 96 compatible glass frit, suitable for kiln-forming techniques.

Cleaning & Care

To clean your glass item:

• use a soft cloth or microfiber cloth
• if needed, clean gently with lukewarm water and mild soap
• dry with a soft towel

Avoid:

• abrasive sponges
• harsh cleaning chemicals
• dishwasher cleaning

Handling

Glass is durable but still fragile. Please:

• handle with care
• avoid dropping or knocking the glass against hard surfaces

Re-Firing Information (For Glass Artists)

Freeze & Fuse elements may be incorporated into other fused glass projects.

To preserve the texture and detail created during the original firing, it is recommended not to exceed 715°C (1319°F) when firing again.

Higher temperatures may cause:

• loss of surface texture
• melting of the original structure
• loss of design detail

These pieces work best for tack fuse or light contour fuse applications.

Alternative Application (No Kiln Needed)

Freeze & Fuse elements can also be attached to other surfaces without re-firing.

Many artists prefer to fix the elements using:

clear Gorilla Glue
transparent silicone
• other strong clear craft adhesives

This method preserves the original texture and detail created during the kiln firing.

Handmade Character

All pieces from Fabio di Vetro are handmade. Slight differences in colour distribution, texture and bubble formation are part of the artistic process and ensure that every piece is unique.
